Daisy Gilardini
Ho conosciuto Daisy Gilardini durante un viaggio in Antartico su un rompighiaccio russo, Lei faceva parte dello staff come fotografa ufficiale della nave. E' stato facile diventare amici grazie anche alla sua sensibilità e disponibilità. Daisy è una grande interprete della fotografia estrema, in ogni sua immagine c'è eleganza e un'accurata e armoniosa ricerca della composizione grafica.
Svizzera del Canton Ticino, ha iniziato a fotografare seriamente nel 1989 e da allora ha visitato e documentato con la sua macchina fotografica 60 paesi. Nel 1997 durante il suo primo viaggio in Antartico se ne è innamorata e da quel momento ha regolarmente visitato le regione polari; una passione che è diventata la sua specialità.
Per Daisy la fotografia significa avventura estrema, ama la natura e gli animali e sceglie sempre destinazioni remote lontane dalla civilizzazione dove le forze della natura sono padrone.
Le sue immagini sono regolarmente usate per calendari, cartoline e puzzle e sono state pubblicate sulle più importanti riviste del mondo fra cui: National Geographic.
Ha ottenuto importanti riconoscimenti nei più prestigiosi concorsi fotografici internazionali fra cui: Travel Photographer of the year nel 2004 e 2005;
Nature's Best International Photography Award nel 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008;
BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year nel 2006.

I met Daisy Gilardini for the first time during an expedition in Antarctica on a Russian icebreaker; she took part of the staff as the official photographer on board. It was easy to become friends thanks to her nice and warm manners. Daisy is a great performer of extreme photography, each of her photos has an accurate and harmonious composition.
Daisy Gilardini is based in the Ticino region in Switzerland. She started taking photography seriously in 1989 and since then she has visited more than 60 countries with camera in hand.
She fell in love with Antarctica during her first trip there in 1997 and since then she has regularly visited the Polar Regions; a passion that has become her specialty.
For Daisy, photography means extreme adventure:
"Being a nature and animal lover, I always choose remote destinations, far from civilization where the forces of nature govern.
Her work is regularly used for calendars, postcards and puzzles and her photos have been published in some of the most important magazines such as The National Geographic.
She has been awarded at the most prestigious international photo contests such as; "Travel Photography of the Year" 2004 and 2005;
Nature's Best International Photography Award 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2008;
BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2006.
