Hannu Hautala
Hannu Hautala nasce nel 1941 nell’Ostrobothnia,
regione della costa occidentale finlandese e vive a Kuusamo con la moglie
Irma. Fin da ragazzo coltivò la passione di diventare fotografo
naturalistico. I soldi guadagnati, facendo il meccanico di motori,venivano
spesi per acquistare attrezzatura fotografica e tutto il tempo libero
era dedicato a fotografare e studiare il comportamento degli animali.
La svolta nella sua vita avvenne nel 1970 quando, dopo avere pubblicato
il suo primo libro, ricevette una sovvenzione dal governo finlandese per
studiare e fotografare gli uccelli della Finlandia e così lasciò
il suo lavoro e divenne fotografo a tempo pieno.
Da allora ha pubblicato circa 30 libri sulla sua magica terra, che sono
stati tradotti in svedese, inglese, tedesco e giapponese. Ha ricevuto
premi nei più importanti concorsi fotografici del mondo compreso
il BBC Wildlife photographer of the year dove è stato premiato
più volte.
Hautala è conosciuto in tutto il mondo come uno dei maestri della
fotografia naturalistica.
Profondo conoscitore delle regioni finlandesi e degli animali che vi abitano,
egli possiede numerosi capanni di appostamento che gli permettono di realizzare
sia in estate che in inverno i suoi inimitabili scatti.
Hannu è un grande interprete della fotografia di animali ritratti
nel loro ambiente e nelle sue fotografie riesce a ottenere il massimo
dalle favolose luci del nord.
Come ebbi occasione di dirgli, in uno dei nostri incontri, credo che lui
si possa considerare un poeta; un poeta che crea poesie con la macchina
fotografica.
Mi sono avvicinato e innamorato della fotografica naturalistica anche
grazie alle sue immagini quindi per me è un grande onore poterlo
ospitare oggi sul mio sito.

Hannu Hautala was born in 1941
in Ostrobothnia, a region on the west coast of Finland and he lives in
Kuusamo with his wife Irma.
He has had the desire to become a wildlife photographer since he was young,
in fact the money he got from working as a mechanic was spent on buying
photographic equipment. He used to spend all his free time taking pictures
and studying the animals’ behaviour. The turning point in his life
was in 1970 when, after the publication of his first book, he received
a subsidy from the Finnish government to study and take pictures of the
birds in Finland. Thus, he left his job and he became a full time wildlife
photographer.
Since then he has published about 30 books on his magic land, which have
been translated in Swedish, English, German and Japanese. He has received
wide acclaim and numerous awards in the most important photographic competitions
in the world such as the BBC wildlife photographer of the year where he
has been awarded many times.
Hautala is appreciated and recognized in all the world as an expert of
wildlife photography. He knows extremely well the Finnish regions and
their animals. He owns, in fact, numerous huts which allows him to take
extraordinary pictures both in summer and in winter.
Hannu is a great interpreter of the photography of animals which are depicted
in their surroundings and in his pictures he captures the best of the
northern light.
As I could tell him in one of our meetings, I think he’s a poet
who creates poems with his camera. I became more and more interested until
I got in love with the wildlife photography also thanks to his pictures,
so it’s an honour to have him as a guest on my website.
