Norbert Rosing
Io penso che oggi la Germania sia al primo posto in Europa per numero e qualità dei suoi fotografi naturalisti. Sono lieto di presentare fra i miei ospiti un grandissimo esponente della scuola tedesca che io ammiro molto: Norbert Rosing.
Norbert Rosing è nato nel nord della Germania (Munsterland) nel 1953, e vive insieme alla moglie Eli in Baviera nel sud della Germania.
La fotografia è stata da sempre la sua passione. Nel 1960 incominciò a fotografare con una piccola Kodac instamatic, passando poi a una Practica LLC e poi a una Canon FD. Dal 1989 usa Leica di cui è testimonial.
Nei primi anni della sua attività egli si dedicò a fotografare i paesi Scandinavi, visitandoli più volte durante tutte le stagioni dell’anno, così si innamorò della bellezza del nord. In seguito, per tre anni fotografò in tutte le stagioni il Parco di Yellowstone e da questo lavoro scaturirono due libri sul famoso Parco Americano. Non dimenticò le sue radici e fotografò i paesaggi e gli animali dei parchi della Germania realizzando due libri sui parchi nazionali della Germania unificata.
Nel 1988 prese vita un progetto che è ancora in corso: Il mondo dell’orso polare.
Norbert conosce l’intero Artico Canadese, da Churchill/Manitoba alla Baia di Cambridge in Nunavut. Ha fotografato la vita degli Inuit, l’aurora boreale, e tutti gli animali artici compreso l’orso polare di cui è diventato uno specialista. Oggi continua a viaggiare e documentare l’Artico, incluso Canada e Spitsbergen (Norvegia).
Le sue foto hanno ricevuto numerosi premi in concorsi internazionali compresi: BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year e Nature’s Best Award.
I suoi articoli sono pubblicati dalle riviste di tutto il mondo incluso Geo (Germania) e National Geographic. A tutt’oggi Norbert ha pubblicato 10 libri.
Il suo ultimo libro “Im Reich der Eisbären” è favoloso. In questo libro egli ha fotografato il mondo dell’orso polare con spettacolari immagini. Fotografie di animali artici, paesaggi e le danze dell’aurora boreale completano questa esperienza artica.
Nel 2005 Rosing ha presentato una mostra del suo libro a Dubai e all’auditorium del National Geographic a Washington.

I do think that today, Germany holds number one spot both for the number and for the quality of its wildlife photographers. I am thrilled to present, among my guests, a great member of the German school; a photographer who I deeply admire: Norbert Rosing.
Norbert Rosing, born in northern Germany (Münsterland) in 1953,
lives together with his wife Eli in southern Germany (Bavaria).
Photography has always been his passion. He started of in the late 1960s with a small Kodak Instamatic, improved later to a Practica LLC, in the mid 1970s he changed over to the Canon FD System and since 1989 he has been an enthusiastic Leica R System user.
In the early years he visited the Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, and Finland) many times during all seasons of the year and fell in love with the beauty of the North. Then he spent three years capturing the natural richness of the Yellowstone Park. The images were published in two different books. But he did not forget his roots and photographed the amazing landscapes, trees and parks in Germany. In 1988 he started his still ongoing project: The World of the Polar Bear. It covers the entire Canadian Arctic from Churchill / Manitoba to Pond Inlet and Cambridge Bay in Nunavut. He captured in photographs the life of the Inuit, the Aurora Borealis and the arctic animals including the Polar Bear in which he has become a specialist.
Today he continues to visit the Arctic on a regular basis every year, including Canada and Spitsbergen (Svalbard) Norway.
His pictures have received numerous awards in international competitions, including the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Nature’s Best Award.
His images have been published in many magazines worldwide, including GEO Germany and National Geographic. Until now Norbert Rosing has published ten books.
The last one, “The World of the Polar Bear”, is great. For this book, he has captured the world of the Polar Bear with spectacular images. Photographs of Arctic animals, landscapes and dancing Northern Lights complete the arctic experience.
In 2005 he proudly presented his "World of the Polar Bear" show in Dubai and in the auditorium of National Geographic, Washington D.C.
